Rustic Roots Restaurant Athlone operates this website and the restaurant in Athlone, County Westmeath (N37 FX02). We decide how the information described here is used, which makes us the data controller for it.

When you book a table we ask for your name, email address, phone number, the date, time and size of your party, and anything you tell us in the special requests box. We use it to hold your table, to confirm it, and to reach you if something changes.

When you send us a message we collect your name, email address, subject and message, so we can reply.

Staff bookings. If you book by phone or in person, a member of staff may enter the same details on your behalf.

That is everything. We do not build a profile of you, we do not track you around the web, and we do not use your details for marketing.

For bookings, because you have asked us to hold a table and we need your details to do it. For messages, because you have asked us a question and answering it is in both our interests.

24 months, after which it is deleted automatically. That happens on a schedule, not when someone remembers to do it.

If you would rather we removed your details sooner, email us and we will. It takes one request, and you do not have to give a reason.

Only the companies that run the website for us, and only so it works. None of them sell your details or use them for their own purposes:

• Supabase stores bookings and messages, on servers in Ireland.
• Resend sends the confirmation emails, from servers in Ireland.
• Vercel hosts the site. The parts that handle your details run in Dublin.

We chose EU hosting for all three, so your details stay in the European Union. We do not share anything with anyone else unless the law requires it.

The public part of this site sets no cookies at all — no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind. That is why you have not been asked to accept anything.

Members of staff who sign in to the private booking area receive a cookie that keeps them signed in. It is necessary for that page to work and is not used for anything else.

Our contact page can show a Google map, but it does not load until you press “Show map”. If you do, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy. Leave it alone and nothing is sent to Google at all.

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can object to us holding it, and ask for it in a portable form. Email us and we will deal with it within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and the date at the top.
